REHOBOT Hydraulics celebrates 90 years

REHOBOT Hydraulics celebrates 90 years and looks to the future

Not all 90-year-olds are as spry as REHOBOT Hydraulics, the Eskilstuna-based company that has been providing hydraulic solutions to everything from global corporations to local workshops since 1924. Over the years, the company has produced a wide range of product families, served a large number of customers all over the world, and faced both success and challenges.

It all began in 1924, when 22-year-old Herbert Landin founded Herbert Landin Domkraftfabrik. The company's first customer was Volvo, which it continued to supply over the decades. Initially, production consisted of mechanical jacks, but in the early 1930s the company also began producing hydraulic jacks. Herbert Landin was then the first in Sweden to manufacture jacks. In 1937, the company was reorganised into Domkraft AB NIKE, which was the name and brand that would be used for a long time to come.

The range eventually grew to include everything from hairdressing chairs (many of which are still in use!), height-adjustable drafting tables, gun carriage tailpieces, aircraft jacks, crash car guidance systems and rescue equipment to hydraulic pumps and cylinders. The applications for the company's products have been equally wide-ranging - from helping hairdressers to cut their clients' hair, to architects to design and construct, to lifting a 10,500-tonne water tower in Saudi Arabia, to facilitating servicing in the automotive industry. The common thread, however, has always been high-quality high-pressure hydraulics.

The company has always been based in Eskilstuna, but its development over the years has been eventful, to say the least, and has included a long series of both major and minor events. One milestone was that NIKE Hydraulics changed its name to REHOBOT Hydraulics in 2010 in connection with a change of ownership. However, the company's products and focus remain the same - hydraulics in the Automotive, Industrial and Rescue segments. The most important thing for the company at the moment is the way forward. The company's CEO Kjell-Roger Holmström says "REHOBOT Hydraulics is well equipped for the future. We are continuously renewing our machinery to continue to deliver world-class high pressure hydraulics to both new and existing customers. We look forward to expanding our market share based on a solid product range with a rich history, which proves our reliability and quality mindset."
